The Council of Inclusion & Awareness (CIA) is a multicultural programming and leadership development council composed of various recognized, university student organizations. The council welcomes and supports organizations whose mission includes the advancement of groups that have been and continue to be underrepresented in higher education and include a multicultural and cross cultural educational component in their programming. The mission of CIA is to develop the leadership skills and talents of its student members. It is the goal of CIA member organization to represent and promote diversity as they bring the Illinois Wesleyan community together through educational programming.
Meetings: Meeting days and times depend on the availability of members and the advisors. The advisors coordinate each meeting day and time.
The CIA shall be open to any university student organization in good standing whose mission incorporates the promotion of multiculturalism or specific underrepresented populations of Illinois Wesleyan University.
Organizations desiring membership in CIA must:
a. Add support and promote diversity initiatives on campus
b. Agree to maintain all requirements for active status
Each member organization is required to elect or appoint one delegate to serve on the council.
To attain membership into CIA:
A. The organization must be nominated for membership by at least one of the following:
1. Other CIA organizations
B. The organization’s request for membership into CIA must be approved by a majority vote of delegates
