Founded in 2008, The Music Theatre Society has been a student-run organization dedicated to putting on rarely produced musicals in the style of the New York City Center's Encores! Every year, MTS will collaborate with artists to produce a show that is rehearsed and performed within a week long process. With simple sets, costumes, minimal props, a live band, and exciting direction, those involved will have opportunities to deepen their understanding of their craft and audience members will be encouraged reexamine their understanding of social ideals and morals throughout history. Celebrating their 12th season, MTS is dedicated to producing "lost" musicals in hopes of making the arts accessible to all at Illinois Wesleyan University and encouraging students to participate no matter what major or experience level.
Meetings: The Music Theatre Society Board will meet regularly throughout the fall semester and a few times throughout the spring semester in preparation for a performance in January and to discuss future events and upcoming officer elections. Generally, these meetings will take place in The Dugout area in the Memorial Student Center on Wednesday's.
Membership requirements: The Music Theatre Society encourages any and all majors to play an active role on the board. Potential board members are invited to the meetings to see if they share the same passion and goals that The Music Theatre Society holds in such high regard. Those interested in being a part of the shows are auditioned by the director and creative team.
Membership dues: No.
