This is a pre-professional organization for all students interested in the field of education, striving to improve the quality of future educators. The group meets monthly and includes activities such as discussions with guest speakers, volunteer outreach opportunities, and teaching strategies. Members gain membership of both SEA and NEA (National Education Association), can apply for scholarships offered by SEA, and can have their resumes circulated to school districts around the state of Illinois. Our mission is to advocate for education professionals and to unite our members on campus with other future educators across the nation. The purpose of SEA is to fulfill the promise of public education to prepare every student to succeed in a diverse and interdependent world. Our core values are an equal opportunity, a just society, democracy, professionalism, partnership, and collective action. SEA believes every student in America, regardless of family income or place of residence, deserves a quality education.
Meetings: Meetings are held the first Tuesday of every month at 7 PM in SFH 001. Meetings various educational topics, skills events, guest speakers, and many more formats.
Membership dues: Membership in IEA/NEA is strongly recommended (only $22 fee for year)
