The Society of Physics Students is an international organization devoted to engaging those interested in physics, and giving them the opportunity to get involved in hands-on physics experiments and projects. Our chapter gives IWU students a chance to get to know each other in a casual, non-classroom setting, while continue to broaden and deepen our love for physics. We have games, movie nights, and multiple projects for both research opportunities, and just for fun! Non-majors are more than welcome, and we make sure to foster a friendly environment, no matter your background or previous experience with physics. Previous projects include a solar powered rover, a trebuchet, and a supersonic ping-pong ball cannon.
Meetings: Every other week on Wednesdays at 6:00pm in CNS E105. Meeting dates are subject to change.
Membership requirements: We welcome all students and faculty who wish to broaden their knowledge in the application of physics. The only requirement is a love for physics!
Membership dues: Joining the club is free. SPS membership is $24 annually, and grants access to additional resources and opportunities for all physics enthusiasts.
