Global Medical Training's mission is to provide hands-on medical care in impoverished areas of the Caribbean, Central, and South America. Every June, we travel to rural and urban communities that lack access to basic medical care. Our focus is to not only serve the members of the community but to provide learning experiences for our members. Members are encouraged to actively provide care such as vital signs and assessments, interviews, and assisting the local doctors in creating diagnoses and writing prescriptions. Our organization is open to anyone regardless of major and year in school. Our overall goal in these communities is to promote public health and sustainability. We visit local communities, hospitals, and homes so students will be exposed to a variety of healthcare settings. Knowledge of Spanish is not a requirement as we will be working closely with local staff and translators.
Meetings: Every 3 weeks in CNS C102
Membership dues: Membership dues are not required, but the trips cost approximately $1650 to cover airfare, food, and lodging.
