Illinois Wesleyan University’s Habitat for Humanity campus chapter works with future homeowners in the community to build houses from the ground up. Along with a great community base, Illinois Wesleyan University has partnered with Illinois State University to combat homelessness in Bloomington-Normal. Students and professors come together to build every Saturday and we fundraise throughout the year to donate back to our McLean County Affiliate as well as an affiliate overseas. Last year, we ran our large annual fundraiser called Cow Pie Bingo and participated in ISU's Trick-or-Treat for Change. Every year we also partner with IWU's Alternative Spring Break Program. Students have traveled to Albany, GA, Laredo, TX, Mobile, AL, and Chavies, KY in past years. Next year we want to continue to grow stronger relationships with our community, keep fundraising money, and build more homes for more families so that we may soon be able to fundraise our own house! In August of 2010, the IWU/ISU Habitat Chapter received the Habitat for Humanity Campus Chapter of the Year Award. Our combined chapters have come together to build over 30 houses in the Bloomington-Normal area.
