National Association for Music Education (NAfME)

Student Organizations Academic

Illinois Wesleyan University Collegiate NAfME chapter’s mission is to serve as a professional organization for future music educators. NAfME does this by offering opportunities to develop professional skills and provide meaningful interactions with musicians, practicing music educators, local music students, and student colleagues through personal discussions, local events, state conferences, and national platforms. NAfME fosters the development of professional skills for future educators. Members of the organization are given the opportunity to attend local events and state conferences such as the Midwest Clinic and the Illinois Music Education Conference (IMEC). The IWU NAfME chapter frequently engages in presentations and discussions with guest speakers involved in the professional music world.

Membership requirements: Members of the IWU NAfME organization must be registered members of the official national organization as well. The NAfME organization provides members with useful tools and resources that can be utilized in a professional music career.

Membership dues: The chapter itself does not collect dues, but dues must be paid to the national body in order to be a member.
